Clare specialises in helping mothers resolve breast (or bottle) feeding problems. Most mothers consult her within the first 3 weeks after the birth.
Meet Clare Byam-Cook
Clare Byam-Cook trained as a nurse and a midwife. She worked for several years at Queen Charlotte’s Maternity Hospital in London before joining Christine Hill’s antenatal practice in Chiswick in 1989, where she taught the breast-feeding classes until 2013. Clare carries out home or hospital visits to any mother who is having feeding problems and also sees clients at her house in Putney (Erpingham Road, Putney SW15 1BG), London. Clare normally only ever needs to see a mother once for a 60-75 minute session – it is very unusual for a mother to need a follow-up session.
All of Clare’s clients come to her through word-of-mouth referral from GP’s, obstetricians, paediatricians, Health Visitors, midwives and previous clients.
Clare has made many appearances on television and radio, including This Morning, BBC Breakfast, Sky News, Channel 5 News, The One Show, Lorraine, Good Morning Britain, Loose Women, TalkTV, Radio, BBC Radio London, TalkRadio and Woman’s Hour.
Clare is recommended in many books including Gina Ford’s “The Contented Little Baby Book” & Alison Scott-Wright’s “The Sensational Baby Sleep Plan”. Clare has also written articles and been a guest expert for various baby magazines such as Baby, Prima Baby, Mother & Baby and Junior Pregnancy & Birth.
